A. Technical Specifications Before commencing work, it is recommended that the selected vendor inspect a fully constructed transport or shadow FFS personnel to observe the assembly process of a transport. This hands-on experience will allow the vendor to gain a better understanding of the process and address any questions they may have about the build process. 1. Fabrication: a) Fabrication shall be completed according to FFS supplied CAD drawings. b) All welds shall meet American Welding Standards (AWS). c) All Vertical welds shall be completed “uphill”. All other welds shall be “push” welds d) Welds shall not contain any porosity or discontinuity e) All welds of the ¼”x 3” flat bar on the truck frame shall be no less than 2” in length, every foot on the inner and outer sides of the flat bar. f) All weld splatter and slag shall be removed g) Metal shall be from USA mills. Any other considerations on metal types h) Welding wire shall be Lincoln 71 Elite .45 wire shielded gas or equivalent. i) The beds shall be mounted in compliance with FMVSS 301-75 standards. j) Blade stops will be fabricated by the vendor but not permanently mounted. 2. Undercoating/Painting a) Sandblast entire carbon steel truck bed to a SSPC-SP7 to remove mill scale & welding slag. b) Apply 2 coats of #81520 UNDERCOATING to underside of the frame & truck bed. c) Apply 1 coat of primer & 1 finish coat with Florida Forest Service colors (GLCPC VAP-9XX/GL—VINYL ACRYLIC PRIMER-BEIGE and PPG ALK6000/GL—ALK110 FOREST GREEN) to entire bed including ramps. d) Finished paint will be free from drips, runs, thin spots, overspray onto cab or chassis. 3. Electrical a) The vendor shall install red and black buss bars with 5/16” wire eyelet studs to attach wires, a 50-amp resettable breaker, and an ATO fuse block containing at least six fuses for additional electronic add-ons. This buss bar panel shall be made from aluminum bent with a 2” leg and a 19” upright by 16” wide to accommodate these pieces. The panel shall be mounted in the cab next to or just behind the driver seat. b) The truck bed shall have the following marker lights and reflectors: a. Four (4) amber ¾" led bullet marker lights (2 in the front corners and 2 in the rear corners of the bed just before the dovetail break). b. Two (2) red ¾" led bullet marker lights on each of the rear outside corners of the dovetail and one on each corner of the ramp bumper between the outside corner and the ramp mounting bracket. c. Three (3) ¾" led bullet marker lights spaced equally between the ramps on the bumper for use as ID lights. Additionally, just above the red marker lights on the bumper corners, there shall be a 2” round reflector needs to be mounted (center screw mount). d. Four (4) 3” round amber reflectors placed on the side of the bed (2 behind the amber marker lights in the front and 2 in front of the marker lights in the rear corners).
