Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This is a per unit sale for the thinning of natural pond, slash, and loblolly pine on approximately 149 acres and clear cutting of natural sand pine on 29 acres divided in three separate areas within Seminole State Forest, located in Lake County, Florida (see attached location map). Area 1 (123 acres), 6 acres of Area 2, and Area 3 (20 acres) will be thinned, and timber available for harvest will be determine by an operator select harvest to leave an average basal area of 50 square feet of pine timber per acre, leaving the largest and best formed pine trees to the satisfaction of the Forester-In-Charge. The remaining 29 acres of Area 2 shall be clearcut and all merchantable sand pine in the area will be available for harvest. Timber marked with blue paint is excluded from the sale and shall NOT be harvested or damaged. The sale boundary is designated by distinct stand type changes, roads, firebreaks, fences, and blue painted boundary trees. The estimated volume for this sale is 2,295 tons of pine pulpwood. Bidders can submit an optional per ton price for hardwood pulpwood. This price will not be used in determining the winning bidder. Cutting of the hardwood is to take place in conjunction with the pine harvesting and is subject to approval by the Forester-In-Charge. No estimated hardwood volume figures are available. Due to the vicinity of and inclusion of wetlands within the sale perimeter, all Best Management Practices will be strictly adhered too.
