Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This per unit timber sale is a thinning of 216 acres of natural and planted slash pine in the Richloam Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest in Sumter County, Florida (see attached location and tract maps). This will be an operator select thinning of pine timber to a residual basal area of approximately 50 square feet per acre and/or to the satisfaction of the Forester-In-Charge. Poorly formed, suppressed, diseased or otherwise less valuable pine trees should be favored for harvest. Sale boundaries are designated by roads, distinct stand type changes, wetlands, forest boundaries, or orange paint. All pine timber marked with orange paint is excluded from the sale and shall not be harvested or damaged. The estimated pine volumes for this sale are 2,480 tons of pulpwood/mulchwood and 2,720 tons of chip-n-saw and better. Due to the presence of wetlands in the vicinity of or included in the sale perimeter, all Best Management Practices (BMP's) will be strictly adhered to.
