The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners hereby requests proposals from qualified attorneys to act as Special Magistrate for Code Enforcement Hearings pursuant to the Code of Ordinances of Gilchrist County, Florida. Qualified candidates must be a member in good standing of the Florida Bar with knowledge of local government law, quasi-judicial hearings, and Florida Statutes Chapter 162 regarding code enforcement, and understand all relevant codes, ordinances, and Florida Statutes relative to the service provided. The Special Magistrate shall serve at the pleasure of the County Commission, and shall not be deemed a county employee. The Special Magistrate shall conduct hearings relating to violation of the County Code of Ordinances and Land Development Regulations and shall sit as an impartial hearing officer to determine, based upon evidence presented during a hearing, if a violation exists, and impose such orders and fines as are necessary and appropriate pursuant to Florida Statutes.
