Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This is a salvage harvest of Hurricane Ian damaged timber and selection thinning of standing live undamaged timber on approximately 431 acres located on Sarasota County's Walton Ranch (see attached maps). Timber to be salvage harvested includes south Florida slash pines that are laying down, have broken main stems, and trees leaning greater than 30 degrees. Standing live undamaged slash pines are to be harvested by operator select thinning, leaving 30-40 basal area per acre. Harvesting operations will be directed on the ground by the Forester-In-Charge. All Best Management Practices will be followed on this sale. There is no estimate of volume of timber to be harvested. Products include salvage mulchwood/fuelwood and pulpwood/mulchwood. The successful bidder must begin cutting operations within fourteen (14) days of notification of contract execution, and harvesting cannot stop for more than seventy-two (72) hours without approval from the Forester-In-Charge. Sale boundaries will be roads, firelines, property boundaries or obvious timber type changes.
