Escambia County Waste services department receives end-of-life electronics, appliances, batteries, and scrap metal in our Citizens Convenience Center drop off from Escambia County residents and onsite sources. Materials are also generated from offsite "Neighborhood Cleanups". Escambia County then sells these recycled goods. End-of-life electronics, appliances, lead acid batteries, and scrap metal are sold by weight. Scrap metal is sold at a purchase price percentage. The purchase price percentage is a fixed percentage that vendors will pay for Escambia County’s scrap metals. Purchase price/weight vendors pay to Escambia County is determined by indexes listed by each item and determined monthly based on the current market. The payout to the county will be the fixed bid percentage of the listed price. Scale house will need to be utilized for tracking and weight comparisons. Some items listed for recycling / disposal will be at a cost to the County and will be reflected in the appropriate pricing table at a cost to County. Escambia County is looking for quotes on both pickup with containers provided, and an option for county to provide containers and deliver.
