SR 60/E. Brandon Blvd. from E. of Lithia Pinecrest to W. of Valrico Rd. is an urban principal arterial in Hillsborough County. The purpose of this project is to preserve and extend the life of existing pavement through milling and resurfacing, provide safety modifications, cross slope analysis, new signing and pavement markings, intersection improvements, ADA improvements, pedestrian crossing improvements, intersection lighting, roadway safety hardware, handrail, and minor drainage. All work shall be completed within the existing right of way. The design speed and posted speed is 50 mph in the as-builts. This roadway has been designated as a Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) facility. SIS/NHS (National Highway System) standards shall be followed to the greatest extent feasible in the design of specific improvements. Detailed design criteria for the development and modernization of the SIS/NHS are based on standards established in the FDOT Design Manual. Specific SIS criteria can be found in Strategic Intermodal System Highway Component Standards and Criteria Procedure 525-30-260-a.
