This timber sale is a logger-select thinning in mature stands of natural pine and planted pine. This will be the first thinning for all stands included in the sale. Timber to be removed from planted pine stands includes every third row for access and a select thinning of the leave rows. In natural pine stands conduct a selection thinning. The target basal area is 50 square feet per acre for all stands included in the sale. Timber to be removed will be harvested based on the following criteria: diseased, defective, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired density. The District estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 4,000 tons of pine pulpwood, 300 tons of chip-n-saw (CNS), but there is no guarantee that the volume is present.
