Construction of North Port City Hall completed in 2005, with design complying to the 2004 Florida Building Code. Winds from Hurricane Ian caused damage to both the roof assembly and windows. The existing roof is original to the facility, is non-compliant to current wind load requirements and has reached the end of its useful life. The windows have since been re-sealed, however, drawings indicate these assemblies are rated to a Cat 2 wind load (2004 FBC). The HMGP project scope of work proposed to provide wind protection to North Port City Hall by installing impact resistant windows and doors and by replacing the roof system to meet current wind speeds in the area. The project shall provide systemic mitigation by protecting the entire building envelope.
