The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), Marine Resources Program in Newport,Oregon, the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission (ODCC), Oregon State Police (OSP) and theNational Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is conducting an 18 month marinehabitat restoration project involving the removal of derelict crab gear. The purpose ofthis project is to remove from the Oregon coastal sea and Columbia River, up to 4000derelict pots and any or all of the associated gear (buoys, lines, bait containers, etc)for these pots. The Oregon Coast will be divided into three distinct regions; the NorthCoast (including the Columbia River), Central Coast and South Coast.
