commission inspiring and unique site-specific public art work installations for the main entrance to the Center, and additional targeted spaces, that will welcome residents, students and visitors that represents the Village’s significant contributions to the Island’s diverse history. The entranceway should be exciting, colorful and engaging and be a celebration of the monumental space. Successful public art proposals will address and acknowledge the neighborhood’s evolution with a bold and creative vision. The artwork should reflect the importance of this brand new space as a community gathering place that celebrates the history of the site and its adjacent neighborhoods, as well as the culture of Key West. The artwork will ideally engage the public through educational and/or interactive components consistent with local culture and the environment. Community mentorship art projects are encouraged but not required. It is envisioned that this public art work installation will enhance the neighborhood and create a welcoming entranceway to raise awareness and a tribute to this neighborhood’s history.
