Specifications include, but are not limited to: per unit sale thinning of approximately 431 acres of planted slash pine, and clearcutting of 180 acres of planted sand pine in Tate's Hell State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Franklin County, Florida (see attached maps). The sale area consists of 71 acres of 36-year-old slash pine (Area 1), 167 acres of 25-years-old slash pine (Area 2), 193 acres of 29-year-old slash pine (Area 3), all to be thinned, and 180 acres of 37-year-old sand pine (Area 4), to be clearcut. Timber available for harvest in areas 1-3 include two cut rows per three leave rows with tree selection from leave rows to a residual basal area of 50-60 square feet per acre (approximately 215 trees per acre). Timber to be removed from the leave rows includes diseased, deformed, defective, forked, and suppressed trees as well as a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the target basal area. Areas 1-3 will require low ground pressure equipment to complete harvesting. Area 4 will not require low ground pressure equipment. The estimated harvest volume on this sale is: 26,533 tons of pine pulpwood, 11,472 tons of pine chip-n-saw, and 4,322 tons of pine sawtimber. Sale boundaries are roads, wetlands, or obvious timber type changes.
