Mounting: Concealed embedded studs B. Materials: Bronze Castings 873 Silicone Bronze: ASTM B 584 C. Accessories 1. Fasteners and Anchors: Manufacturer’s standard as required for secure anchorage of bronze seals and lettering, noncorrosive and compatible with each material joined, and complying with the following: a. Use concealed fasteners and anchors b. Casting mounting fasteners: 1. Concealed Studs: Concealed (blind), threaded studs welded or brazed to back of bronze elements. 2. Castings will be fastened to precast concrete elements. 3. Manufacturer to provide non-shrink grout or epoxy to adhere embeds into precast concrete substrate. Ensure that adhesive is salt water resistant and compatible with concrete and bronze materials D. Fabrication: Fabricate castings free of warp, cracks, blowholes, pits, scale, sand holes, and other defects that impair appearance or strength. Grind, wire brush, sandblast, and buff castings to remove seams, gate marks, casting flash, and other casting marks before finishing. E. General Finish Requirements 1. Protect mechanical finishes on exposed surfaces from damage by applying a strippable, temporary protective covering before shipping 2. Appearance of finished work: Noticeable variations in same piece are not acceptable. Variations in appearance of adjoining components are acceptable if they are within the range of approved samples and are assembled or installed to minimize contrast. 3. Directional Finishes: Run grain with long dimension of each piece and perpendicular to long dimension of finished trim or border surface unless otherwise indicated. F. Examination 1. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance. 2. Verify that plaque/seal-support surfaces are within tolerances to accommodate plaques without gaps or irregularities between the backs of plaques and support surfaces unless otherwise indicated.
