Specifications include, but are not limited to: This sale is third row plus operator select thinning of approximately 137 acres of 29-year-old planted slash pine on Tate's Hell State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Franklin County, Florida (see attached maps). Timber available for harvest includes every third row and select trees in the leave rows to a residual basal area of 50-60 square feet per acre (approximately 215 trees per acre). The selection of timber to be removed from leave rows should focus primarily on diseased, deformed, defective, forked, and suppressed trees, as well as a portion of the intermediate and co-dominate trees to reach the target basal area. At the discretion of the Forester-in-Charge, the harvest prescription can be modified to take two rows and leave three rows with same selection to better accommodate low ground pressure equipment if ground conditions warrant it. The estimated harvest volume on this sale is 18,973 tons with the following breakdown: 13,457 tons of pulpwood, 5,311 tons of chip-n-saw, and 205 tons of sawtimber. Sale boundaries are roads, wetlands, or obvious timber type changes.
