The lime sludge shall be loaded, hauled and disposed of in a manner consistent with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Memorandum dated June 12, 2006, or latest edition, regarding Guidance for Land Application of Drinking Water Treatment Plant Sludge ("Guidance Memo" - Attachment A) to minimize costs to the County. Water Treatment Plant #2, produces approximately 18,000 tons of wet lime sludge and Water Treatment Plant #8, produces approximately 30,000 tons of wet lime sludge per year as a by-product of the water treatment process. The amount of lime sludge produced increases or decreases depending upon the water production during the year. For this reason, there may be months with greater lime sludge production than other months of the year. Trucks shall be weighed before the lime sludge is loaded in the truck and again after the lime sludge has been loaded, in order to verify the weight of the lime sludge being removed.
