The general requirements is for the selected vendor/contractor to: 1.) Procure a new set of PAPIs and REILs for Runways 7, 25, 18 & 36 (4 sets total) at Albert Whitted Airport. 2.) Remove the existing PAPIs/REILs and install the new sets. 3.) Test and assure that new lighting systems are functioning correctly. 4.) In coordination with the Airport, schedule and participate in the required FAA flight check to certify the new PAPIs for flight operations. 1.2. Background All new PAPI/REIL equipment specifications must meet FAA criteria/certifications. Currently the existing PAPI/REIL equipment is ADB Safegate products with the exception of one set of PAPIs which are Astronics. It is expected that the replacement PAPIs/REILs would fit within the existing concrete bases, such that replacement and major alterations of the base infrastructure would not be required. The damage to the existing PAPIs/REILs were due to salt-water flooding during Hurricane Helene. It is not expected that there is any major damage to the existing underground wiring/conduit based on the limited damage to the conduit/wiring of the airfield edge lighting. However, if additional issues are determined, the Airport would look to address in-field with the vendor/contractor as a contingency. Given the typical lead-time to schedule the FAA flight check of the PAPIs, Vendor/Contractor should expect they would have to return to the site to accomplish the FAA flight check many weeks/months after the initial installation is complete.
