This service will include, but not be limited to: 1. Where appropriate, analyze medical information and the statements taken from witnesses, as well as contact and control claimants. 2. Monitor all claims referred to defense counsel for disposition. (Counsel to be named by County). 3. Prepare appropriate payment instruments and agreements for the settlement of each claim obligation and medical bills considered proper. 4. Investigate all accidents to determine fault. 5. Obtain all relevant documentation including, but not limited to, Police Reports and Appraisals. 6. Contact and maintain timely communication with all claimants. 7. Handling of all loss adjustments, investigations, and settlements falling within and above the County’s Self-Insured Retention with approval from Risk Management. 8. Review all reported injury cases to determine if the Workers’ Compensation Act is involved. 9. Determine injuries and illnesses in accordance with the Workers’ Compensation Act. 10. Determine eligibility and make payments of authorized medical benefits in accordance with the law. Authorize medical examinations to determine the nature and extent of disability. 11. Determine and request payment of temporary disability compensation as authorized in accordance with medical reports received, current medical fee schedule, rehabilitation efforts made, and reports by the employer. 12. Process all settlements and appear at hearings where required. 13. Review all open cases periodically to establish the status of disabled employees in order to assist in the settlement of their cases and report status to County’s representative
