Specifications include, but are not limited to: • The system shall be capable of testing solid round pultruded FRP bars and FRP 7-wire strands within the parameters of ASTM D7205. • The system shall be capable of testing polymer matrix composite materials within the parameters of ASTM D3039. • The system shall be capable of testing ASTM A615 Grade 60 steel rebar and accurately determining yield point, 2% offset, ultimate tensile strength, and breaking strength. • The system shall be oriented horizontally. • The system shall be installable and operational without requiring foundation modifications to the current six-inch-thick steel-reinforced concrete slab. • The test frame shall have approximate horizontal dimensions of 26 feet long and 6 feet wide. • The system shall include a clear liftable cover for protection from debris during testing. The cover parts shall be commercially available. • The system must be capable of safely and accurately measuring within specified load ranges without noise. o This may be accomplished by multiple load cells provided that the necessary equipment and software are included for interchange. • The system shall include a compatible extensometer meeting ASTM Practice E83 Class B-2 (preferably non-contact or auto-release due to the violent nature of FRP rupture). • The system shall include an appropriate strain transducer for measuring longitudinal strain. • The system shall include the necessary controllers and software for operation. The system shall come with a standalone computer meeting the Minimum Computer Requirements section below. • Crosshead Movement: the system must be capable of sufficient elongation to rupture the specimens and additional room for movement after specimens break. • The system shall be capable of rupturing test samples without moving or damaging the equipment or surrounding objects. • The system shall be equipped with adjustable stress, strain, and position rates • The vendor shall supply all gripping and anchorage fixtures necessary to test FRP bars, FRP strands, FRP shapes, and steel bars. • The vendor shall validate that the gripping and anchorage systems are adequate to test bars/strands embedded in steel test tubes without any slippage or crushing of the steel tube or FRP bars/strands. • The vendor shall validate that the gripping system is adequate to test FRP coupons without any slippage or crushing of the coupon. • The gripping system shall be rotationally self-aligning to prevent introduction of any bending or torsion to the samples. • User manuals shall be included with a detailed listing of spare parts, accessories, consumables, and all necessary operation and maintenance instructions and requirements. • The vendor shall validate system performance after delivery and installation.
