The Governing Board of the St. Johns River Water Management District is requesting bids for a per ton timber sale comprised of approximately 105 acres (“Sale Area”) within the Clark Bay Conservation Area, located in Volusia County, Florida. The Sale Area is in Section 25; Township 16 South; Range 30 East. Sale boundaries include roads, posted property boundary, and bay swamps. (Maps are included in the attached agreement.) This timber sale is a logger-select thinning in mature slash pine stands. Timber to be removed includes every third row for access and a select thinning of the leave rows to reach an average target of 200 trees per acre. Timber to be removed from leave rows will be harvested based on the following criteria: diseased, defective, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired density. Dominant trees shall not be harvested from leave rows. The District estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 2,960 tons of pine pulpwood, 228 tons of chip-n-saw, however, there is no guarantee that the volume is present.
