Child Protection Teams (CPT) are medically led and promote the safety and well-being of Florida’s children by providing medical and non-medical evaluations, assessments, and services. CPT programs collaborate with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and local sheriff’s offices to provide services to children and families when a report is accepted by the Abuse Hotline for a child protective investigation. Currently, there are 22 CPT programs providing services throughout the state of Florida. The CPT programs operate and are administered under sections 39.001 and 39.303, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 64C-8, Florida Administrative Code. CPT programs provide an array of services to assess for child maltreatment including: • Medical evaluations and consultations • Child forensic Interviews • Specialized interviews with caregivers or siblings • Psychological evaluations • Court testimony The minimum requirements for staff employed by an organization providing CPT services are outlined in Chapter 64C-8, Florida Administrative Code. A local CPT program’s staff typically consists of: • Local Medical Director: Provides overall direction and oversight of CPT medical providers. • Team Coordinator: Manages the day-to-day functions of the local CPT program. • Physicians/Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants: Conduct medical examinations and consultations to assess for child abuse. • Case Coordinators: Conduct forensic and specialized interviews of children referred by DCF, law enforcement, or community-based care agencies. • Intake Coordinators: Document applicable client information upon intake and may schedule appropriate services. IV. DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED SERVICE AREA Capable and interested respondents would have the ability to provide CPT services in northeastern Florida in the following counties: Nassau, Baker, Duval, Clay, Putnam, St. Johns, Flagler, and Volusia counties. Annual averages of CPT services provided in the northeastern region are as follows (based on past three years of data): • 24,494 Hotline Abuse Report reviews • 2,773 children served • 1,438 medical examinations • 649 medical consultations • 804 forensic interviews • 2,387 specialized interviews with caregivers/siblings
