The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Central Office, Districts and Florida's Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) operate remote ITS Communications systems and networks using fiber optic and microwave infrastructure throughout the state. FDOT has developed an Intelligent Transportation System Facility Management (ITSFM) System using Byers Engineering’s NexusWorx software to help manage the inventories and configurations to support operations, maintenance and future design activities. The software is configured as an internet application allowing the districts to better manage their ITS and fiber optic infrastructure deployments. The software requires ongoing maintenance and hosting to allow active users on the system, provide security updates to the software, allow access for google map views, and to host at a location with redundant backup.
