Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Deliverable I, Design: i. The original statue shall be created to be an accurate depiction of an American alligator. The statue shall be roughly 12 feet long and shall be cast in bronze with a dark, life-like patina.; ii. The ARTIST shall consider, as part of the design, specific site conditions including but not limited to a. Visitors’ safety; b. Visitors’ approach, circulation, and exit of the plaza; c. Visibility and sightlines to the statue from outside the plaza, orientation of the statue in relation to solar direction, and surrounding hardscape material and design; and d. Durability, maintenance, longevity, and security during natural disasters of the statue due to exposure to the South Florida environment and heavy visitor traffic. (The DEPARTMENT will include site plans and/or elevations that convey to the artist the general site design and conditions.) iii. The ARTIST shall also design a bronze pad/set of bronze pads for the alligator statue, based on site plans provided by the DEPARTMENT. ; B. Deliverable II, Fabrication of Molds: Within 30 days of the Department’s written approval of the design drawings/sketches, the ARTIST shall fabricate the molds required for the casting of the statue and bronze pad/set of bronze pads, provide proof of fabrication of the molds (pictures of casted molds), and provide proof of production readiness.; For proof of production readiness, the ARTIST shall provide either: i. An executed agreement with a foundry, of the ARTIST’s choice, stating that production is ready to proceed; or ii. If the ARTIST operates their own foundry, written confirmation on the ARTIST’s letterhead and/or an email with the ARTIST’s information in the signature block that production is ready to proceed.; C. Deliverable III, Production, Furnishment, Delivery, and Installation of Statue: Upon completion of Deliverable II and unless otherwise authorized by the Department in writing, within 60 days of the Department’s written approval of the design drawings/sketches, the ARTIST shall complete the following: i. The ARTIST shall produce, furnish, deliver, and install the statue at the project site on a bronze pad/set of bronze pads provided by the ARTIST at the location determined by the DEPARTMENT.; ii. The ARTIST shall be responsible for the delivery and installation of the statue and bronze pad/set of pads.; iii. The ARTIST shall coordinate with the DEPARTMENT (Project Manager or Environmental Administrator) regarding the installation date so that a DEPARTMENT representative may attend the installation.
