The College’s Health Sciences Simulation Center requests the purchase of three (3) Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) Pyxis™ MedStation™ ES medication dispensing systems, each consisting of a main unit and half-height auxiliary column, from MEDICAL SHIPMENT LLC. This system is widely adopted by hospitals, clinics, academic institutions, and healthcare training programs across the United States. The BD Pyxis™ MedStation™ ES by BD, is an automated medication dispensing system design to help clinicians administer medications safely and efficiently. Its smart CUBIE™ technology provides flexible, configurable storage through both half-height and full-height pockets, supporting medication safety and addressing the growing demand for intuitive, reliable medication management solutions. As part of the CareFusion Pyxis ES platform, the system integrates seamlessly with Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) systems, offering scalability while minimizing IT infrastructure demands. It is compatible with existing systems such as Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) and Active Directory, enabling streamlined implementation, cost savings, and consistent functionality across health system environments. In an academic setting, the Pyxis system enhances nursing education by providing students with handson training in medication management and administration. This is particularly valuable during clinical rotations at major hospitals such as Broward Health, Memorial Health, and HCA. Its proprietary technology and specialized features are essential to the effective operation of the College’s Simulation Center. Incorporating Pyxis into both the simulation environment and curriculum is essential for preparing students to use medication dispensing systems confidently and competently during clinical training at major healthcare institutions. Reason for Sole Source: The College understands that CAREFUSION SOLUTIONS LLC, a BD subsidiary, is the manufacturer and MEDICAL SHIPMENT LLC is the sole source reseller of sales and service for the BD Pyxis™ MedStation™ ES in the United States of America. BD has partnered with MEDICAL SHIPMENT LLC to offer a standard BD Pyxis™ solution for nursing schools, limited in scope for training purposes. MEDICAL SHIPMENT LLC is the only authorized seller of this product, and there are no distributors or third-party vendors authorized to sell the Pyxis™ MedStation™ ES.
