Hernando County, Florida is located in west central Florida, and is bordered on the north by Citrus County, on the east by Sumter County, on the west by the Gulf of Mexico, and on the south by Pasco County. It is part of the greater Tampa Bay region, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, and the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority.
The Hernando County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) provides fixed route with complementary ADA public transportation service known as TheBus. Complementary ADA paratransit service is provided to qualified persons with disabilities who live within a ¾-mile buffer of the fixed-route service.
