The City of Miami Beach Tourism and Culture Department oversees the Art in Public Places (AiPP) program, which manages a diverse collection of artworks displayed and installed throughout public spaces, including parks, civic buildings, and waterfront areas. These artworks represent significant cultural, historical, and aesthetic value to residents and visitors, reflecting Miami Beach’s identity as a global arts destination.
The City is seeking artists, artisans, fabricators, specialty contractors, art installers, creative trades specialists, cultural fabrication vendors, technical artists, art production technicians, or tradesmen with experience in the restoration, conservation, preservation, maintenance, and repair of artwork, including metalwork, welding, application of paint, coatings or protective materials, mosaic components, and concrete or cementitious materials work. Additional specifications and instructions shall be provided in each individual project’s quote request, which includes insurance requirements.
Conservation projects may include, but are not limited to, the restoration, conservation, preservation, treatment, and maintenance of:
- Sculptures (freestanding or integrated)
- Murals (painted or applied)
- Mosaics (tile, glass, or stone)
- Sound or Mixed-media installations (including non-traditional or site-specific works)
- Architectural Art Elements
- Historic Plaques or commemorative Markers
- Functional Art (Artist-designed benches, railings, or bike racks)
- Textile or Fabric-Based Works (Banners, Flags, or Fiber art displayed)
- Environmental or Landscape Integrated Art
Exposure to subtropical environmental conditions—such as high humidity, salt air, UV radiation, and hurricane events—creates an ongoing need for professional conservation and preservation. The purpose of this solicitation is to secure a network of qualified artists, artisans, fabricators, specialty contractors, art installers, creative trades specialists, cultural fabrication vendors, technical artists, art production technicians, or tradesmen to provide artwork conservation services to ensure the long-term care, safety, and integrity of the City’s public art collection.
