Specifications include, but are not limited to: The research will revolve around three separate but related components: researcher observation of classroom instruction, with a focus on teachers’ use of grade- level English Language Arts (ELA) standards, including a review of content covered in class and the level of student engagement in those classrooms; interviews with participating teachers and school leaders, with the goal of learning what supports they are currently receiving, what additional supports could help deepen their knowledge of the District’s content standards, and what barriers they face in teaching the standards; and the collection and analysis of in-class and homework assignments provided to students.
