The District of Columbia (the District) Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP), on behalf of the Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Office of Waste Diversion (OWD) is seeking a Contractor to create a home composting curriculum and knowledge quiz and host quarterly in-person Home Composting trainings that cover the following topics: • Introduction to the Home Compost Program which provides the context and purpose of the training and inspires viewers to participate. • Introduction to composting, • How to hot compost and vermicompost at home (with a focus on composting in the urban environment) • How to: o avoid and resolve common problems encountered with composting in urban areas, o how to avoid contaminants, invasive species, and the inclusion of certain undesirable chemicals in their compost (such as PFAS), o how to access resources that may be available to them, and o how to network with other community composters to stay informed and connected. • Guidance on how to take the online knowledge quiz and how to apply for a home composting system rebate.
