Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Correction currently owns and operates a facility at 2211 Schieffelin Road, Apex, NC, which houses the Division of Prisons Central Pharmacy and the Office of Staff Development & Training (OSDT) Section. The Department wishes to contract for 24 hour a day, 7 days a week armed uniformed security services for this facility and grounds. The current contract for these services is held by Myers’ Investigative and Security Services, Inc. The pharmacy area consists of administrative offices and workstations where prescription orders are filled. There is also a storage room, packaging area, and delivery dock. The pharmacy will normally be utilized during regular daytime working hours. However, pharmacy staff is often required to return to the site during night and weekend hours. The OSDT area consists of administrative offices, workstations, and training classrooms. Training functions will usually be limited to Monday through Friday during normal working hours. The Department’s Correction Enterprise Division has a warehouse on site in a separate building. The warehouse stores products manufactured by prison industries and is a primary distribution point for such products. The contractor’s security responsibilities for the Enterprise Warehouse do not include the interior of the warehouse but will involve reporting of any suspicious behavior/activity around the perimeter of the building. Because these buildings and site are owned and operated by a State agency, they fall under the jurisdiction of the State Capitol Police.
