Chassis: • School buses shall utilize diesel fuel unless otherwise noted. • School buses with less than 36 passenger capacity, the minimum power plant shall be 160 hp engine or equal. School buses with capacity of 36 passenger or greater, the engine will produce at least 190 hp measured at an RPM not to exceed 2,600 and generate at least 420 foot pounds of torque. • Units 6-6a,7,8,9,10,16,35,37-45,46-47,53,57,63 and 66 (Propane) shall have tanks with a minimum usable capacity of 67 gallons. Units with Option F will have a minimum of 90 gallons useable propane. • Units 21,22,54,58,64,69 and 70 shall utilize gasoline fuel. • Tires – 11R22.5 on 36-72 passenger (not on flat floor buses), 245x70R225 or 255x70R225 on flat floor buses and 11R22.5 (load range H) on 84 passenger buses. • Tire Treads – Steering tread on front tires and mud and snow tread on rear tires. • Wheels shall be balanced. • All buses shall have front-end alignments. Body: • Clearance lights may be controlled through a separate switch, through the body solenoid or bodycontrol electronic control module, or they may also be controlled by the chassis tail light switch (if the latter, the clearance light circuit shall be isolated by a protective relay.) • All buses shall be equipped, at a minimum, with an AM/FM radio. • District identification (“____________ SCHOOL DISTRICT”) will be made with 6 inch black letters applied to both sides of the bus on the beltline. Use “APPOQUINIMINK SCHOOL DISTRICT” Unit 1-5,”BRANDYWINE SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 6-10, ”CAESAR RODNEY SCHOOL DISTRICT” Unit 11-15, “CAPE HENLOPEN SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 21-22, “CAPITAL SCHOOL DISTRICT” Unit 16-20 “CHRISTINA SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 23-26, “COLONIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 27-34, “INDIAN RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 35-36, “RED CLAY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT” Units 37-47, “Seaford SCHOOL DISTRICT” Unit 48-49, and not labeled at this time Units 50-70. • The child reminder system shall be armed when the warning system master switch is turned on and the Red warning lights have been activated.
