Specifications include, but are not limited to: The following specifications for Rock Salt and Solar Salt are primarily for usage by the Delaware Department of Transportation to ensure public safety. While other agencies and municipalities may use the contract, the standard of specification is currently set by the Department of Transportation. Additional specifications also allow the bulk purchase “Ice Melt” for usage by State Agencies to maintain public safety at State owned and leased properties. For the purpose of this Scope of Work, the term “Engineer” will refer to the Delaware Department of Transportation’s (DelDOT) Material and Research Section’s engineer, responsible for the inspection and quality control of Rock Salt & Solar Salt. For the purpose of this Scope of Work “DelDOT” will be representative as the lead authority/ agency regarding Rock Salt and Solar Salt standards and policy due to the agency’s control over and maintenance of roadways, highways, and interstate routes located in the State of Delaware.
