Specifications include, but are not limited to: This RFQ provides specifications for an indexing semi-continuous system to fabricate thermoplastic composites. The system will comprise of a hot stage and a “cold” stage with the material indexed between the two stages as it moves through the system. A stack of dry reinforcement and thermoplastic film will be the input material form which must be carried through the machine while it is being processed. Drive or belt systems that stress the material will not be suitable due to potential distortion of the dry reinforcement, and must be accounted for and described in the response to the RFQ. Thermoplastic materials to be processed include PEEK (740 F process temperature) and temperature rating of up to 1000 F is desired for hot stage. The “cold” stage is not a true cold stage but is at a lower temperature sufficient to freeze the thermoplastic (actual temperature is thermoplastic dependent) and as such must be capable of operating up to a minimum of 500F temperature. System must be at least 42” wide, with stage length of 48” minimum. Desired consolidation pressure ranges from 100-300 psi. RFQ response must include details on material transport strategy, non-stick strategy for high temperature (PEEK), warranty, training for system use and 2-3 days for acceptance trials prior to delivery.
