Specifications include, but are not limited to: Nutter Park playground equipment installation as outlined herein. The bid shall include the price of furnishing all labor, equipment, materials, appurtenances, protective surfacing, edging, and access provisions necessary to construct a solid playground structure for children ages 5 to 12. Safety – All public playground equipment and surfacing supplied shall conform to all playground-related provisions and technical standards published by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) which includes, but is not limited to: - ASTM F1487-21, “Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use”; - ASTM F1292, “Standard Specification for Impact Attenuation of Surfacing Materials Within the Use Zone of Playground Equipment”; - ASTM F3313-20, “Standard Test Method for Determining Impact Attenuation of Playground Surfaces Within the Use Zone of Playground Equipment as Tested in the Field”; - CPSC 325, “Public Playground Safety Handbook” All products shall bear the certification seal of the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA) and shall meet or exceed ADA Accessibility Guidelines for Public Playgrounds. The playground structures must be age appropriate with proper signage. Site Work – The Contractor is responsible for verifying site conditions and shall provide all necessary site work required to install the new playground equipment, required foundations, edging and energy absorbing protective surfacing. All areas adjacent to the new playground structure must be backfilled and properly graded and seeded to provide positive drainage away from the structure and edging. Restoration shall provide a smooth transition to undisturbed areas which shall be free of all localized depressions or abrupt changes in grade that may trap or otherwise misdirect surface drainage or create possible obstructions to pedestrian travel. All disturbed areas shall be top soiled (4” minimum) seeded and stabilized upon the completion of construction.
