Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Bridgeport Board of Education (BBOE) is seeking proposals from knowledgeable search firms, experienced in searches for School Superintendents, who can conduct a comprehensive nationwide executive search for the position of Superintendent, Bridgeport School District. The goal is to identify and attract the best qualified, capable and creative candidates for consideration by the Bridgeport Board of Education. The Bridgeport Board of Education is seeking proposals from knowledgeable search firms, experienced in searches for School Superintendents, who can conduct a comprehensive nationwide executive search for the position of Superintendent, Bridgeport School District. The goal is to identify and attract the best qualified, capable and creative candidates for consideration by the Bridgeport Board of Education. 1. Develop and conduct a thoughtful, timely process for gathering Board, educator, staff, parent, family and community input in order to craft a common vision for the leadership needs of our district. 2. Translate these needs into a comprehensive set of qualitative and quantitative criteria and profile for the desired Superintendent. 3. Use the superintendent profile to inform the development of the advertisement for the position. 4. Conduct a thorough search and ultimately produce a pool of highly qualified, fully vetted, diverse and creative candidates who meet the criteria established. 5. This search will include, but is not limited to the following key tasks: • Prepare and distribute materials as necessary to advertise the position; • Nationally advertise and recruit qualified candidates; • Screen all applications; • Conduct extensive background, credential checks and interviews of qualified candidates and include these results in the information about individual candidates who are recommended to the Board for consideration. • Present the complete list of candidates in accordance with the appropriate criteria to the BBOE for consideration based on the selection criteria. • Coordinate and facilitate the Board’s interview process. • If the BBOE does not decide upon a candidate after consideration of the first round of finalists, continue the search process, until the BBOE makes a final selection, at no additional cost. • Work with the Board and designated staff to ensure the recruitment process is as transparent as possible and that a stakeholder communication plan is followed throughout the process. • Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the search process as directed by the Board. • Provide any other reports, recommendations or complete other tasks necessary to select and employ the new superintendent.
