Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Remove and dispose of the existing boiler including piping, gauges, valves, fittings and controls which would interfere with the installation of the new unit. 2. Install high efficiency Energy Star Certified, oil-fired, wet base, cast iron hot water boiler. Boiler shall have a minimum AFUE rating of 87%. 3. Boiler shall be Burnham, Crown, New Yorker, Peerless, Trio, Utica, Weil McLain or approved equal. 4. Contractor shall size the unit according to the existing unit. 5. New boiler is to be installed with all required circulators, controls, filters, valves, switches, wiring, and piping, to operate with an indirect hot water heater as required by manufacturer. 6. New boiler is to be designed to maintain a 70 degree temperature inside during a 0 degree temperature outside. 7. Replace existing circulators and zone valves as existing. Circulators and zone valves shall be Taco or approved equal. 8. Install tempering valve, boiler drain, temperature and pressure gauge, back flow preventer and safety relief valve. 9. Install new expansion tank as manufactured by Amtrol or approved equal. 10. Install thermal cut off switch/ fusible link. 11. Replace smoke pipe and barometric damper. Seal around thimble and new piping with furnace cement. 12. Boiler is to be installed in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and all local and state regulations. When installation is complete, system is to be test-fired in the presence of the owner. 13. Install furnace on 4” cement blocks. Locate the boiler so as to facilitate access for maintenance and cleaning.
