Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The Town is soliciting bids on white screened sand, red screened sand and orange screened sand. Bidders are requested to bid on red, white and orange sand, if possible. 2. The proposed screened sand must be provided in compliance with the latest State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Highway Specification. A copy may be obtained from the state of Connecticut Department of Transportation. It shall be the vendor’s responsibility to familiarize with this specification. 3. The proposed sand shall be inspected by Tom Fillion, the Highway Superintendent, for conformance to the specification prior to acceptance by the Town. The Town of Guilford reserves the right to reject any sand proposed for non-conformance. The proposed sand may be subject to laboratory tests prior to acceptance. 4. Delivery: The selected bidder shall be required to make deliveries of sand within twentyfour (24) hours from notification with the exception of emergency situations, where the delivery shall be immediate, if possible. Scheduled deliveries to occur between the delivery hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each delivery is to be accompanied by a truck delivery slip noting the total cubic yards delivered. Each ticket must be signed by a public works employee to authorize payment. 5. The successful bidder will be required to submit vehicle identification number and body capacity in cubic yards for all vehicles that will be used for delivery. The Town reserves the right to verify such information.
