The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is soliciting proposals to treat invasive plants on 56 acres at Naugatuck State Forest in the summer of 2025. A map of the treatment area is attached. The treatment area is bordered on the east by a gravel road, the south by a powerline, the west by Spruce Brook, and the north by Hunters Mountain Road. The forest consists of mature mixed hardwoods with understory of scattered multiflora rose, Japanese barberry, autumn olive, Asian bittersweet, bush honeysuckle, and Japanese knotweed. Work Requirements • Treatments by CT-licensed vendors will include cut stump, basal bark, and foliar sprays as needed. • Timing of the treatments will be during the 2025 growing season. • Proposals should include a minimum of 90% control. If this requires a follow up treatment, include that in the proposal.
