Snow Removal Services for the Department of Motor Vehicles, Hamden, CT. The State of Connecticut is seeking proposals for snow removal services. Contractor(s) shall beresponsible for the clean and safe condition of snow covered passways and walkways as identifiedduring the mandatory site inspection. Snow Plowing / Removal1. The contractor shall provide the necessary tools, equipment, and operator(s) toremove snow from the facility 7 days per week and/or during any snow eventduring the winter season.2. Contractor shall be responsible for supplying Sand and Salt mixture, De-Icer, andany/all other materials, equipment and personnel necessary to provide contractedservices.3. All Driveways, parking areas, sidewalks (entire width and length), stairs, doorwaysincluding fire exits/escapes, front and back decks, ramps and mailbox areas mustbe maintained and cleaned following seasonal inclement weather.4. Contractor shall be responsible for the disposal of snow in a lawful manner.5. In the event the storm continues throughout the working day, Contractor mustmaintain an open travel area during the operation hours of the facility. This shall beconsidered as part of the "per storm" pricing structure.6. Hand shoveling may be required and shall be considered as part of the "per storm"pricing structure. 7. Snow removal services must be completed one-half hour prior to shift changeswhich shall be identified by the Agency. Sand and Salt / De-Icing1. Sanding, Salting and De-Icing shall be part of the snow plowing services per stormevent.2. Mixture composed of seven (7) parts sand and two (2) parts salt.3. De-Icer shall be non-injurious to concrete and will be required for concrete areas(e.g., stairways, sidewalks, doorways, etc).a. No salt or mixture containing salt shall be used on concrete surfaces.b. A De-icing agent will be used on concrete surfaces such as walkways, stairs,ramps, etc.4. Additional Sanding, Salting and/or De-Icing5. Additional sanding, salting and/or de-icing may be required. However, anyadditional sanding, salting and/or de-icing require prior authorization by anauthorized State representative for the facility.6. Upon authorization, contractor shall respond to a request for additional sanding,salting and/or de-icing within two (2) hours. Snow Relocation1. Contractor will provide the necessary tools, equipment and operator(s) to relocateand/or pile snow at the facility to a specified location on-site as requested by theState Agency. Additional Authorized Services1. Additional sanding, salt and/or de-icing may be required due to climatic conditionsthat fluctuate at the freezing point temperatures.2. Contractor shall respond to the authorization to perform additional sanding, salting,and/or de-icing with two (2) hours of being notified by the DDS Agency contact No additional specifications were given.
