Specifications include, but are not limited to:WITH Spreaders Trucks with a single rear axle, permanently mounted plow frame, plow blade, and hydraulic spreaders. Spreader Calibration All hydraulic spreaders must be calibrated by the Public Works Garage to spread the de-icing/traction agent more effectively on the City streets, The calibration shall be performed at the beginning of each season during the month of October or November at the same time as the equipment safety inspection. WITHOUT Spreaders Trucks with a single rear axle and a permanently mounted plow frame, and plow blade. The City may, at its discretion, use trucks without spreaders. Lights Trucks must be equipped with auxiliary lights, adjustable plow lights and strobe or flashing lights. Tires/Chains All drive wheels must have snow tires with a minimum of 6/32” of tread and tire chains must be available. Blade size Snow plow blades must be eleven (11) feet wide for fixed blades or ten (10) feet wide for power angle blades. Sanders Hopper-type sand spreaders must be hydraulically driven with a minimum five (5) cubic yard capacity. (Gasoline powered spreaders may be inspected and may be acceptable.) Tailgate operated spreaders are NOT acceptable. Plow hoist Hydraulic or pneumatic, required. Loaders Rubber-tired loaders may be used if or when needed
