1. Site Preparation and Initial Setup a. Conduct a pre-construction meeting with stakeholders, including representatives from the City Parks and Recreation Department, the Land Trust of West Haven, and the contractor’s designated Sediment and Erosion Control Officer. b. Install construction access routes, safety fencing, and sediment/erosion controls as per specifications. c. Stake out the project’s boundaries and document the current conditions. 2. Restoration Activities a. Clearing and Grubbing: Clear designated areas, install necessary sediment and erosion control measures, and grade the site as per restoration plans. b. Planting: Install NATIVE plants and apply soil amendments and organic fertilizers, if needed. Protect newly planted trees with Gator bags. c. Drainage and Erosion Control: Implement sediment and erosion control measures throughout the site to prevent plant and soil displacement until the site is established. 3. Compliance and Safety a. Maintain a minimum 10-foot offset for all equipment near power lines. b. Store hazardous materials in secondary containers and designated areas. Equipment refueling shall be conducted in designated zones. c. Limit disturbances to designated areas and avoid all sensitive ecosystems.
