During the last building renovation at Valley Regional High School, chillers were installed to provide air conditioning to the building. These chillers were piped into the existing hydronic heating system, to feed the existing air handlers and unit ventilators with chilled water. During this update, the insulation on the hydronic system did not get replaced with insulation that is an adequate thickness and R-Value. This has resulted in a moisture issue, with moisture readings often reaching 50% in the insulation. This project will require the selected contractor to replace all insulation on the dual temp piping system. A large portion of this piping system is located in dirt tunnels underneath the building. These tunnels can be accessed through the boiler room, basement, and other access points throughout the building. During December 2024 and January 2025, the insulation was repaired and replaced in three mechanical rooms located in the attic/upper levels, the boiler room, and a section of the basement. These areas are not included in this project scope.
