Project Description: The Connecticut DEEP Division of Forestry is soliciting quotes for an 11-acre invasive plant control project in an area in Franklin Swamp Wildlife Management Area off Under the Mountain Rd., in Franklin, CT. The plants to be treated are predominantly Japanese barberry, multi-flora rose, Asiatic bittersweet, and winged euonymus. DEEP is requesting that any other non-native invasive plants encountered during field work be treated as well. The invasive population is moderate to heavy throughout the understory of the forest. Access is through a state owned field on Under the Mountain Rd. The perimeter of the proposed treatment area is saved as a shapefile and this, as well as two georeferenced pdf maps are attached to the e-mail. DEEP is seeking quotes from licensed applicators to apply appropriate herbicide solutions, using accepted methodology, timing, and application rates to effectively kill all invasive plants within the treatment area while minimizing drift or other disturbance/injury to native species. Products used, treatment methods, timing, application rates, follow-up, and associated costs should be detailed by the contractor as part of their quote. DEEP asks that imazapyr and glyphosate are not used. Treatment must occur on foot.
