Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Connecticut Department of Labor (DOL) solicits applications for a consultant for the Connecticut State Apprenticeship Council to aid in the expansion of the apprenticeship program as a strategy for workforce development in Connecticut. The Department plans to explore new apprenticeship models and partnerships in industries outside of the traditional construction trades. These areas will include but not be limited to advanced manufacturing and film industry occupations. In addition, the consultant will look to incorporate recent legislative changes for apprenticeship options for Veterans. They will also assist the Department with its efforts to establish pathways for apprentices to receive college credit for certain hours of training. Duties for the Apprenticeship Council Consultant- The Apprenticeship Council Consultant will assist the Labor Commissioner in his/her role as Chairman of the Connecticut State Apprenticeship Council This position will report directly to the Labor Commissioner. Task 1: Apprenticeship Council Formal Responsibilities Provide technical assistance to the Commissioner of Labor in his role as the Chair of Connecticut State Apprenticeship Council (CSAC) to assure that all responsibilities of CSAC are met. Research and prepare any necessary reports. Assist with the facilitation of and preparation for CSAC meetings and associated workgroups. Task 2: Apprenticeship Development Provide technical assistance to Labor Commissioner to research, develop, update and coordinate implementation of new apprenticeable occupations in the manufacturing and other sectors. Research Connecticut, National and International methods and practices. Develop employer outreach presentations and survey employers to ascertain business requirements. Provide analysis of data collected and prepare report of findings for the Labor Commissioner and CSAC. Draft apprentice training curriculum and model development.
