The scope of work will include: • The contractor shall demolish and dispose of the existing structure. Disposal records shall be maintained and be available on request. • The contractor shall protect and prevent damage to any of the surrounding area including vegetation and wildlife. • Timber posts, piers, joist, railings and ground connections shall be Grade #1 premium SYP pressure treated lumber rated UC4C, UC5A or equal for direct ground and freshwater contact in extreme environments. • Decking boards should be 2X6 Grade #1 Prime SYP pressure treated lumber, rated UC4C or UC5A, surface screwed with stainless steel fasteners and gapped correctly. • Building materials must comply with the Build American Buy American Act • The contractor shall construct a boardwalk at the Sessions Woods WMA Beaver Pond Trail mainland to a small island containing a hunting blind. o The boardwalk will be minimum 5’-6” wide at posts and approximately 165’ long. o Wood top-rails will be installed at least 42” tall. Top rail and side rails should be constructed with standard 1-1/2” thick framing materials, actual width may vary with final field approved design. o There shall be a minimum of 4 (depending on width of rail) side rails not including the top handrail spacing of rails shall not exceed 4” at any point. Top rail will be at a 45-degree angle and overhang the posts and rail systems. o All surface edges shall be smooth with railings and piers having rounded corners.
