Provide a minimum of three (3) full weeks or one-hundred twenty (120) person hours for weed management under the direction of the Open Space & Trails Supervisor between the months of March and October. These weeks will be scheduled between the Contractor and the Open Space & Trails Supervisor at least thirty (30) days prior to the application date. Contractor will also commit to an additional one (1) week or forty (40) person hours for on-call herbicide applications if deemed necessary by the Open Space & Trails Supervisor. The on-call hours do not need to be worked contiguously and may be needed in separate eight to ten (8-10) hour shifts. The Open Space & Trails Supervisor and the Contractor will schedule the on-call herbicide applications at least seven (7) days prior to the application date.
Open Space & Trails Supervisor will provide maps and written instruction as to where and what target weeds should be controlled. Contractor will provide information about which herbicide is recommended to be used and at what concentration (see below). Typically, the Town will elect to use an herbicide that is less toxic and more environmentally responsible.
Target weeds to be controlled: Cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum), Scotch Thistle (Onopordum acanthium), Musk Thistle (Carduus nutans), Canada Thistle (Cirsium arvense), Russian Thistle (Salsola spp.), Common Mullein (Verbascum thapsus), Leafy Spurge (Euphorbia esula), Feral Rye (Secale cereale), Hairy Willow-Herb (Epilobium hirsutum), Field Bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis), Kochia (Bassia scoparia), Common Teasel (Dipsacus fullonum), or any other weed species determined by the Open Space & Trails Supervisor to be a nuisance to the Town of Erie.
