El Paso County Facilities & Strategic Infrastructure Management Department is seeking written “best value” bids from qualified, experienced general contractors to furnish all labor and resources necessary for the renovations at the Department of Public Works (DPW) building located at 3275 Akers Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80922. The remodels in different areas of the facility will include but not be limited to demolition, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, new ceilings and flooring, structural, and carpentry finish work.
This is an office renovation project roughly 3,900 square feet. The project will renovate office space, conference rooms, reception lobby, locker rooms and exercise room. Work will consist of demolition of several interior walls, doors, millwork, VCT flooring, carpet, rubber base. Mechanical will consist of removal of ductwork and fire damper, relocate diffusers, return grilles and thermostats. Plumbing will consist of removal of an industrial wash basin, various piping. Electrical will consist of removal of power/data drops and lighting.
New construction will consist of new interior walls, doors, door hardware, carpet tile, rubber base, lockers, locker room benches, translucent film on inside surface of window in women’s locker room, new grid and ACT. Provide new clothes washer, dryer and stainless-steel utility sink. A new doorway will need to be cut into an existing structural wall. New mechanical work will consist of ductwork, diffuser’s, energy recovery ventilators, air cooled condensing unit, environmental fan and electric unit heater. Plumbing will consist of new piping, water closet, lavatory, sink, water heater and washer wall box. Also, reroute sprinkler system in accordance with NFPA 13. Electrical will consist of new floor boxes, one core drilled to basement below, two saw cut into concrete slab on grade. New lighting fixtures. New power and data drops, rough in for new card readers, wiring for exhaust fan, water heater, cooling unit and energy recovery ventilator. Reconfigure power poles to suit revised furniture layout. Provide additional power poles as required. There will be a new restroom, as well as new exterior steel stairs, added to the second floor of an outbuilding located within the DPW complex.
Please be sure to consult the construction documents to be sure all requirements will be met for this project. All workers including subcontractors shall undergo a background check. This will be through El Paso County Security. This will require a valid government issued ID card, a valid social security card and a completed security form. The cost per person is $5.00. Please allow one (1) week for background checks to clear. This work can be performed during normal business hours
