Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Identifying, reviewing and analyzing state legislative, and executive branch matters of potential importance and impact to Lake County. • Supporting the County in securing funding for local priorities and engaging on 1-3 priority bills in the legislative session, in addition to monitoring and engaging on lower priority bills. • Supporting the County in securing sponsors for legislation, as well as with drafting, influencing, amending, and passing legislation. • Communicating the County’s perspective, interests and positions on legislation and budget actions to state legislators, the Governor’s office and other state policy leaders as necessary in a highly professional manner. • Arranging meetings between County representatives and legislative leaders or with preparing County representatives to testify before committee hearings. • Working with members of the Colorado State Legislature to sponsor and pass legislation supported by the Lake County legislative priorities. • Supporting Lake County representatives have a ‘seat at the table’ on important state issues that impact our community; including but not limited to, housing, economic development, local government funding, and land use. • Providing an annual report on legislative activities. • Engaging the Joint Budget Committee on areas of importance to the County. • Keeping the County and Board updated during the interim (May – December) on important topics such as revenue forecasts, pertinent interim committees, etc… • Demonstrating proven experience with working in a bi-partisan manner and with a variety of stakeholders. • Providing weekly written updates to County Commissioners and specified staff. If warranted, provide written updates as needed on quickly moving legislation or budget actions, incorporating Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) input on outreach and/or advocacy.
