Project Purpose
The purpose of the Small Communities Water and Wastewater Technical Services Program is to provide technical assistance to small and rural communities needing to improve their water and/or wastewater system(s), ensuring these communities develop reasonable and affordable projects, and are prepared to request necessary grants and loans from state and federal agencies.
Communities in need of assistance are usually identified by the DOLA Regional Manager. Once a potential community is identified, community representatives meet with the regional manager, the DOLA Program Manager, and the contractor’s team to discuss the drinking water and wastewater issues challenging the community. The contractor subsequently develops a scope of services, which is approved by the program manager. Upon completion of the work outlined in the scope of services, the contractor develops a technical memorandum, which is shared with the community, regional manager, and program manager.
