Colorado State University (CSU) hereby gives notice of its intent to purchase a Phoenix NMR LLC 600 MHz NB 4.0mm HXY solid state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) magic angle spinning (MAS) probe and the accompanying MAS speed controller via sole source. The probe and controller enables the measurement of diverse NMR-active nuclei in solid samples to enable exceptional resolution and sensitivity for advanced research applications when paired with CSU’s Bruker, JEOL, and Agilent/Varian NMR systems already in palce at CSU’s Analytical Resources Core (ARC) facilities. The Phoenix NB 4.0mm HXY MAS probe and controller enables solid-state sample analysis, the probe enhances research in areas such as chemical synthesis, soil science,
carbon capture, wastewater treatment, climate challenges, energy conversion materials, biomedical imaging, drug development, and more. The acquisition of this specialized probe meets the advanced requirements of a broad and diverse group of internal users at CSU and external users and collaborators. The solid-state capabilities provided by this probe are necessary for addressing research challenges in areas where standard NMR probes are insufficient, particularly in material science and environmental studies. The Phoenix Probe playa a key role in training the next generation of scientists by offering hands-on experience with advanced NMR technology, supporting diversity in science technology, ngineering, and mathematics (STEM) through targeted
programs, and promoting participation in research by underrepresented groups.
