Colorado Springs Utilities (Utilities) is requesting proposals for engineering services from engineering firms (CONTRACTOR) to perform rehabilitation of the upstream water barrier, plinth and groin connections, intake and outlet works. South Catamount Dam is located on Colorado Springs Utilities’ North Slope (of Pikes Peak) Watershed. This reservoir impounds local runoff and serves as terminal storage for trans mountain water delivered by pipeline from Utilities’ Blue River System. Water from this reservoir is conveyed by pipeline to Utilities’ Tollefson (formerly Mesa) Water Treatment Plant.
The intent of this contract is to advance the engineering design of rehabilitation for South Catamount Dam to maximize operational reliability, extend the service life of the dam, and minimize dam safety risk. Utilities is seeking a contractor with demonstrated experience in dam rehabilitation including design, permitting, and engineering services during construction; experience with steel face embankment dams is strongly preferred.
