Traffic data is used and needed for traffic monitoring and reporting in the Highway Performance
Monitoring System (HPMS) which is a mandated yearly reporting requirement by the Federal High
Administration (FHWA) to report. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will use the
collected traffic data to analyze and predict the road traffic, to support transportation operation and
planning.
